This morning I am so excited to be bringing you another blog for our Mummy Blog Series! Every week one mum will be answering two questions and a few This or That questions sharing some of their stories about motherhood!

Today it is the turn of the lovely Helen.

Tell us a bit about yourself …

I’m Helen, Mummy to Olivia who’s 4 and Daisy who was stillborn in 2009. I am a wellbeing therapist developing a business that will specialise in supporting families through pregnancy and parenthood after baby loss. I’m also a Weleda Wellbeing Advisor, I feel so privileged to share my love of all things natural beauty and I have a meditation group where we have live meditations on the Full and New Moons. I love to sew and crochet when I get some spare time!

Fun fact: I can drive a tractor! I used to be in Young Farmers and it was just one of those things you did, almost like a rite of passage.

What is your biggest mummy win to date?

This morning I dropped my daughter off for her first morning at school. And I know it’s a super tough time for anyone. Full of anticipation and emotion, excitement and worry, but Olivia really struggled to settle in nursery and I have to say I was even more anxious that she would struggle with school. I have worked so hard to help her manage big emotions as she’s a sensitive soul, and today she went in to school with no problem whatsoever. I think it helped that she attended preschool at the same place. But we’ve had 6 weeks summer break to contend with. This morning she got herself dressed for school while I was in the shower, I cried I missed it! She showed me round her classroom and said goodbye without a care in the world. I am so proud of myself for having the tools and knowledge to help her (and myself!) through this.

What is your 'you know you are a parent when' moment.

We were in our local supermarket, we live in a small town, and a place where we regularly go for some shopping. On this particular day she decided to throw the mother of all tantrums whilst I was scanning the shopping at a self-serve till. Cue me having to leave the shopping mid scan with of course the hugest of queues behind us while she made a run for it. Shouting that I am the worst mummy, she doesn’t want to live with me anymore and she’s leaving. There were so many emotions and feelings for both of us, I was angry, hurt, sleep deprived, embarrassed, worried what people would think, feeling judged, scared she would run in to traffic. All sorts! And of course she was dealing with some big feelings too. I had to go back inside when I’d caught up with her and face everyone. I still can’t look at one of the members of staff in there, almost a year later, who saw me return sobbing and trying to sort out my shopping and then… I realised I’d forgotten my purse!!!
