I am so excited to be bringing you the next blog for our Mummy Blog Series this morning! Every week one mum will be answering two questions and a few This or That questions sharing some of their stories about motherhood!

Today it is the turn of the lovely Jess.

"All my friends and family call me Jess. I retrained as a hypnotherapist and hypnobirther after my daughter was born; her birth was truly beautiful due to the techniques I used. Elona Soleil is our only child and is 3 and a bit. I desperately want a dog…just a small one…but my husband says no! To be fair, he’d probably have to do a lot of the looking after, but I haven’t given up!"

What is your biggest mummy win to date?

All my friends and family call me Jess. I retrained as a hypnotherapist and hypnobirther after my daughter was born; her birth was truly beautiful due to the techniques I used. Elona Soleil is our only child and is 3 and a bit. I desperately want a dog…just a small one…but my husband says no! To be fair, he’d probably have to do a lot of the looking after, but I haven’t given up!

What is your 'you know you are a parent when' moment?

This has to be when my daughter was one and got her first vomiting bug. It lasted TEN days!!! I sat home with her, breastfeeding round the clock and, despite just having started my own business, I found it so easy to put the rest of the world on one side and exist solely for her. I watched the entire series of Brideshead Revisited (the 1970s classic, lasting 11 hours!) and went through every pair of pyjamas that I own (and every bath towel, sheet and blanket), and I sat there feeling a warm pride that I could do this for my little girl. This feeling only intensified when I eventually caught it too, and I found that I could actually cope.

This or That?

Pizza or Chinese -

This has to be pizza every time. I’m so glad pizza is on this list, it’s actually my favourite food! I can cook gourmet meals and used to spend 8 hours in the kitchen (for fun!) before Elona was born, yet pizza is my ultimate food…with anchovies, olives and capers…mmmm

Cinema or a Book -

I love reading, and as Elona didn’t sleep (and still doesn’t sleep much), I read in her room while she’s settling. I really enjoy the cinema but I have to confess, it’s my guilty pleasure and I like going alone. If my husband doesn’t like the film he lets you know! Also we get very few nights out together so it seems a waste to sit in the dark not speaking. So I’m going for a good book! I love Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel

Night in or Night out -

That depends on how tired I feel! One memorable time, my mum actually took Elona for a night which doesn’t happen that often, and we had an M&S meal deal and went to bed at 930, waking up at 930 in the morning- and it was bliss! But on balance, I’d always take a night out over a night in just because they come along so rarely.

Summer or Winter -

Ooh…this is a toughy…I love the cosiness of winter; snuggling in and enjoying something nice on the box, but I think when you have a toddler you all get much more out of being able to go outside for the day without planning it like a military campaign! We’re lucky enough to live in beautiful countryside and we just need to wander out of the door without coats and we’re surrounded by moors, hills and baby animals (3 new foals in the triangular field in the village this morning!). I’m sure I’ll enjoy winter again when Elona’s grown up!

Beach or City -

Oh no, I can’t possibly choose! I love lying on a beach but I can’t do it for that long- that’s when the city comes in. Barcelona is without doubt one of my favourite holiday destinations, and Antibes in South of France. Common factor: cities with beaches! I adore culture, architecture and people going about their everyday lives; watching what foods they buy and where they gather to socialize. Can I have both please?!

Thank you so much for sharing Jess! I am absolutely loved reading your answers!
